Kenny Chesney And Steve Miller Get Together For A Jam Session In Nashville
Kenny Chesney teamed up with rocker Steve Miller to tape an episode of the music series CMT Crossroads Tuesday night at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The set list leaned heavy on Steve's catalog of hits such as "The Joker," "Rock'n Me," "Jet Airliner" and "Abacadabra." Steve also sang the classic "Fly Like an Eagle" by himself, while Kenny performed his new single "Ain't Back Yet" solo.
Together, Kenny and Steve performed Kenny's hits "Living in Fast Forward" and "I Go Back," the latter of which actually references "Rock'n Me" in the lyrics. Steve also talked Kenny into performing the obscure tune "I Want My Rib Back" from Kenny's 1994 debut album, In My Wildest Dreams.
After the taping, the two of them went to Tootsie's Orchid Lounge for a jam session. Taking the tiny stage in front of the window on Lower Broadway, Kenny and Steve played a few of the songs they previously performed, and added Hank Williams Sr.'s "Mind Your Own Business and Stevie Ray Vaughen's "Love Struck Baby."
Kenny and Steve rehearsed late into the night on Monday for the show, and Kenny soaked up a lot of wisdom during their time together. He says, "To sit around and talk with someone like Steve Miller about life, music, the career, the dream -- that makes for a pretty amazing day."
